What is Physical Therapy?
Physical therapy is a type of treatment you may need when health problems make it hard to move around and do everyday tasks. It helps you move better and may relieve pain. It also helps improve or restore your physical function and your fitness level.
Physical therapy can help with recovery after some surgeries. Your doctor may suggest physical therapy for injuries or long-term health problems such as arthritis or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Physical therapy may be used alone or with other treatments.
What are the different types of Physical Therapy?
We offer a wide array of services here at Scott Physical Therapy. Some of our focus areas are:

Do I need Physical Therapy?
If you have pain or discomfort that limits your daily activities like walking up/down stairs, taking your shirt off, grocery shopping, playing sports, or even getting in and out of bed then physical therapy could be an option. We at Scott Physical Therapy we help discover the underlying causes of pain and in many cases help avoid having surgery. Early evaluation and treatment of acute injuries such as ankle, neck, or back sprain can prevent these injuries from becoming chronic.
What should I expect on my first visit?
We will ask you to fill out some paperwork to help us identify your specific problems. You can download them ahead of time here. You may want to wear lose fitting clothes so that our highly trained physical therapists can conduct a full examination. Our job is to find the root cause of the pain, so we will ask a lot of questions regarding your pain. Set aside at least one hour to get the most benefit from this initial visit.
Who pays for my treatments?
Scott Physical Therapy does all the heavy lifting for you. Since we take all insurances and are in network with many, most of the time your health insurance will cover the treatment. All insurances are different and have varying details so please ask our receptionist for more details regarding your specific insurance.
Can I go directly to Physical Therapy without a Physician referral?
Direct access is becoming more and more common. Even though in Louisiana, patients have direct access to our physical therapists, some insurance companies won't cover the cost without a referral from a physician. During your treatment here if a medical need arises that warrants outside treatment we will refer you to the proper healthcare professional. Ask our highly trained team for specifics and details on this exciting way to seek treatment!
