JEFF MENTEL, PT, MPT
Having moved from New Orleans at age 4 to Eunice, where he grew up, he has a good feel for both the fast pace of a bigger city and the slower, more hospitable feel of the small town. After graduating from Eunice High School in 1992, he left home to serve in the U.S. Army as a Psychological Operations Specialist performing in the capacity of a Czechoslovakian linguist and paratrooper during the Bosnian War. It was during this time that he was first exposed to physical therapy for the rehab of fellow soldiers hurt during airborne ops. After his enlistment ended in 1996, he attended and earned an Associate’s Degree of Science from LSU-Eunice in 1998, before transferring to LSU in Baton Rouge where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences with a focus on pre-health care in 1999. He then attended LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport where he attained a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy in 2003. He has since gained experience in multiple settings, including inpatient rehab, inpatient acute, long term acute care, home health, residential brain injury center, and outpatient orthopedics. Enjoying the benefits of new and old/improved techniques for treating his patients, he has extensively studied spinal mobilization, high velocity/low amplitude thrusts, Mulligan techniques, etc., and has acquired a certification as a Dry Needling Therapist and as a Lymphedema Therapist. He recently purchased Scott Physical Therapy in Scott, Louisiana, in April, 2014, from a good friend, Russ Gunter, who has entered into missionary training and service for the underserved in Peru. However, Jeff promises to provide the small town service and hospitality with big city results that the people of Scott and the surrounding areas deserve and have come to expect.
